PLAYING THE GAME OF "BUSINESS CHESS" LIKE A GRAND MASTER

The Idea & Inspiration

One fine evening a few years ago my thinking on business strategy changed in a flash. I was preparing dinner and watching Garry Kasparov teach chess on Masterclass when he said something that got my mind racing.

“Strong chess players realize patterns and they can immediately see opportunities…because of these patterns. The difference between players - when you look at weak players, stronger players, strong players, top players… world champions... - at the end of the day it’s about the number of positions, or you may say the number of patterns, he or she can recognize.  Realizing these patterns, recognizing what is the best way to achieve your goal, is what gives you an upper hand facing the opposition.
